PTSD POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER

Sometimes bad things happen.  Sometimes really, REALLY bad things happen, and you have nightmares, experience flashbacks, become hypervigilant, and experience significant distress affecting your ability to function.

PTSD can arise from any type of trauma.  Whether it be from abuse from childhood, abuse from a spouse or relationship, seeing something terrible on the battlefield, or witnessing some type of horrific event, the symptoms have a lot of overlap.

Counseling for PTSD involves un-bottling the thoughts and feelings associated with the event, rather than attempting to bury them.  Bad things happen in life, and processing them in a healthy way is the key to getting over them.

If you or something you care about is experiencing PTSD, Pursuit of Happiness can help.

Symptoms might involve acting anxiously in different situations, withdrawing from social interaction, or symptoms may persist in some other way not anticipated.  Don't wait, as symptoms, when untreated, will tend to become worse over time.
