SPORTS AND PERFORMANCE ANXIETY

You have to give a speech in front of people.  You are going to pitch in the big leagues for the first time.  You are about to have to fight Dr. Evil for control of the universe.

Whatever your plight, there should be a sense of peppiness that accompanies it.  Adrenaline will rush to all the right spots, and you will feel "up to the task."  When these feelings arise, it's good.  Healthy amounts of anxiety gives us focus and enables us to better perform.

However, sometimes the anxiety is too much.

You may stammer, stutter, and turn red.  You might throw fastballs up against the backstop, prompting an uncomfortable visit to the mound by the head coach.  You forget all your ninja training and Dr. Evil is able to beat you.

Too much anxiety makes us shrink from the moment, and causes us to perform poorly.

Counselors at Pursuit of Happiness understand your plight, and have the tools to get you and your performance on par.  Counseling for these types of sports and performance anxieties involve discovering exactly what the mechanism is that makes us anxious, and pummeling it into submission.

If you are hitting golf balls in the the water when it matters most, if you are breaking down and forgetting your entire presentation, if you are shooting airballs from the freethrow line with the game hanging in the balance, or if you are simply too anxious to approach that cute boy or girl, then you may have a problem with performance anxiety.

Getting help now will enable you to take the bull by the horns, and perform like you know you are capable or performing.
